Rubber Cultivation

In agriculture… technology and cultivation method change every year. But if you still do farming in the old way. you will not get as much profit as expected. Instead of growing traditional crops like rice and wheat, if you cultivate crops that are currently in demand in the market you will get huge income. Many farmers in our country are earning big amount with low cost. Rubber is one such wonderful crop. These trees will provide income to the farmers for 40 years. These days the use of rubber is also increasing in daily use products. Hence this crop is always in demand. A good rate is also available in the market.
Our country ranks fourth in the world in rubber production. Kerala ranks first among the states that produce the most rubber in our country. After this, Tripura is in the second position. From here rubber is exported to foreign countries. Farmers are also cultivating rubber in other states. According to the Rubber Board, 89,264 hectares are under cultivation in Tripura, 58,000 hectares in Assam, 17,000 hectares in Meghalaya, 15,000 hectares in Nagaland, 4,200 hectares in Manipur, 4,200 hectares in Manipur and 4,060 hectares in Arunachal Pradesh. Our country exports to Germany, Brazil, America, Italy, Turkey, Belgium, China, Egypt, Netherlands, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sweden, Nepal, United Arab Emirates. According to a research more than 12000 metric tons of natural rubber was exported from India in the year 2020.

Rubber trees grow well in laterite red clay soils. Soil pH level should be between 4.5 to 6.0. June-July is the best time for planting. Rubber plants need more water. Drought makes plants weak. Therefore, they should be watered frequently. Sunlight should also be good. If you make a small hole in the bark of a rubber tree, latex will flow out. Various chemicals are added to them to make rubber. This rubber is used to make shoes, tires, engine seals, balls, elastic bands, electric appliances etc. A plant will become a tree in five years. After that rubber production starts from it. You can get income from these trees for 40 years.

Rubber farmers get financial assistance from the central government as well as the World Bank. Rubber trees growing in the wild usually reach a height of 43 meters. But those grown by farmers for commercial purposes are smaller. In this way you can also earn good income from rubber cultivation.
