The company that makes many health trackers and gadgets just announced their new product. While withings has been making smart scales since 2009 they’ve have taken their product to a whole new level. The company has introduced a smart scale that not only does the obvious in measuring your weight. But now with the help of a retractable handle it can actually do a body composition measurement. In simple terms, it can differentiate between your right and left legs and arms and your torso. This way you can know the fat and muscle mass of each one of these parts separately and work on the possible imbalances of your body.

While using the Pulse Wave Velocity technology withings already have the heart health check feature in their Body Core Scale in their Body Scan Scale now with the help of the retractable handle that provides more contact points you can get a better picture of your heart and see your personal; vascular age. Not only that but they’ve also added a 6-lead ECG to their scale that works by simply holding their handle that works by simply holding the handle for 30 seconds while standing on the scale.

The other very interesting and unique feature of the scale is the neuropathy scale that it provides by the way of measuring nerve activity in your feet. A low score could possibly be a sign of chronic disease. So you can see this scale provides a lot of insights for your heart and cardiovascular health. In terms of the accuracy of the scale we really cannot speculate but the smart scales are known for their large margin of errors.

According to withings, body scan has a rechargeable battery that can last up to a year per charge. The Electrodermal Activity Score provides one measure of overall health by measuring skin response to sweat gland stimulation. While it is not confirmed yet they have a retail price of $400 in mind which is a lot for a scale. But it provides some unique features you cannot find anywhere else at least for now. According to Withings, Body Scan will be available in the second half of 2022.
