In the form of a new social media app, hackers are inserting a malware called doge rat into users’ phones and other devices. CloudSek has warned users to be vigilant about this.
Cyber criminals are taking new steps every day to steal the data of users working on computers. There are always new ways to spread malware. Until recently, fake Android apps tried to hack users’ phones with guerilla malware and dam viruses. The National Cyber Security Department has issued a cert-in alert to the users.
According to cyber research professionals, hackers are introducing another malware called dogerat through social media and messaging apps into users’ devices. With the help of this malware, hackers have chosen to target the information contained in the devices of important people working in the financial sector, banking, insurance, e-commerce and entertainment sectors, according to Cloud Sek, a Bangalore-based company.
Hackers are introducing this malware into users’ devices through popular platforms like YouTube, Netflix, Instagram, Opera Mini, and Telegram. After entering the devices, Dogerot can be used by hackers to send spam messages, cash payments, listen to call recordings, take photos and videos through remote access to the numbers in the phone’s contact list through remote access, Cloudsek said.
Therefore, CloudSek has warned users to be alert to direct messages and web links from strangers on social media and not to click on advertisements in the name of offers. It is said that it is good to update the device OS from time to time and upload anti-virus software.
