No Airport Countries

Air travel, which was once only for the rich, is now accessible to the common man. Due to this, most of them resort to airplanes to go to distant places. To go from one country to another country, they go to the selected airport and board the planes.At this time when air travel is so popular, some countries do not have airports. This is a truth that seems a bit strange to believe. It is noteworthy that all these countries that do not have airports are in the continent of Europe.

Vatican City is the smallest country in the world. Vatican City, which is surrounded by the whole of Italy, has no special leader. The Pope is the head of the Christian religion. He is the law there. Vatican City, which has a population of less than 1,000, does not have an airport. To go to Vatican City, one has to resort to Ciampino Airport and Fimicino Airport in Rome, which are 20 kilometers away. From there you can go to Vatican City by road.

Andorra is a small country between France and Spain. It is very scenic with hills, valleys and natural beauty. An airfield was established here in 1982. But since 1984, commercial flights have been denied permission here. Only private planes were allowed till 2008, after which this airfield was closed and reopened in 2010. Only tourist chartered flights are allowed to Andorra since 2015. However, if common people want to go, they have to get off at the airport in Spain or France and go to Andorra by road from there. It takes at least three hours to drive from the nearest airport.

Adjacent to Italy is the country of San Marino to the north. One of the smallest countries in the world, San Marino has about 40 thousand people. There is no airport in this country either. To go here, you have to go to the airports in the cities of Rimini or Bologna in Italy. From there you have to reach San Marino by road. San Marino does not have an airport in the country but has two helipads for emergency use. There is a helipad at Borgomaggiore and an airfield at Torrescia.

Monaco is also one of the smallest countries in Europe. This country has three directions of France. On the other side, the Mediterranean Sea is on the south side. This country, which has a population of about 40 thousand people, does not have an airport so far. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport in France is located near Monaco. From here you can reach Monaco in 30 minutes.

Liechtenstein is the smallest country between Austria and Switzerland. There is not even one airport here which is famous as a tourist area. To go here, one has to resort to the airports of neighboring countries like Switzerland and Austria. Landing at St. Gallen – Alternin Airport in Switzerland, Liechtenstein can be reached by road or by boats. Or you can also come to Liechtenstein by train from Austria
